This piece is all about the raw, unpredictable textures of the earth. Inspired by the geysers and mineral deposits of the Yellowstone National Park, I built up the surface of the canvas to recreate the crunchy, salt-crusted geology found around thermal pools. The combination of glossy varnish and heavy mixed-media texture brings the chemical brilliance of these natural wonders to life. Rich in blues, teals and earthy oranges, perfectly capturing the microbial and chemical gradients of Yellowstone.
